Hello all.

I'm relatively new to Kingston and the Quinte area and I've been fishing lake Ontario for about a year and had absolutely no luck for salmon or trout.

I fish out of a kayak, and I can get my bait down to about 50' and of course jigging is always an option. My kayak is a 17' and can handle some big water, but venturing 8 miles off shore isn't in my comfort zone.

I was wonder if anyone can tell me any areas around Kingston \ Bath \ Prince Edward County where I can fish for salmon and trout without having to head out too far (under 2 miles).

Has anyone ever tried the deeper water near the Brothers Islands just outside of Collins Bay?......or the run off from the Nuc Power Plant in Bath?......Timber Island area?

Any help is appreciated....lol.....I'm getting a little desperate.

Thanks.

Spring is the best for your kayak but the waters are very cold. You have to go pretty far off shore for trout right now. Maybe try loughborough lake or devil lake?

Troller, the fish should be moving in from the big lake shortly. The salmon will be starting to come in tight to stage for there run upstream. Rainbows will come in tight as well to feed! Might b another couple weeks before you start see some numbers off of the river mouths, but be patient they wil b here shortly!! Try pulling plugs in the fall
Cheers

Went 8 for 9 yesterday with my buddy Tom. Totals are 4 chinook salmon that weighed in at 21, 15, 18 and 23 pounds, a 12 pound Coho, a double header of Rainbows that were about 4-5 pounds each and another rainbow that was about 8 pounds. Having had a great day like that I wonder if I should forget my camera more often? LOL! Don't need to get too far either and the winds are looking great for the coming weekend, hope the forecast does not change. All the fish were in the boat by 9am but the coho and the 23 pound king.

Are the fish in close around the river mouth getting ready to stage yet or is it not for a couple more weeks ?
