Hi guys, have a question, looking for a little advice about selling my boat.
I have a guy coming this week to look at it, and I have never sold a boat before.
I am wondering what you guys would do about collecting payment?
Would I be unreasonable if I told the guy he can't have it until the cheque clears, or until I know his cash is good?
What process have you used in the past if you have sold a boat?
Anyone's advice would be appreciated!
thanks,
Brad

Actually certified cheques are worthless as well they can be compromised. Talk to your financial institution for there opinion. Bank draft is best

If he has cash to write a cheque then he can pay you in cash if that's what you want. If he is hesitant about carrying thousands of dollars in cash around, which is understandable, then the next best option is a etransfer. It's instantaneous so no need to wait for anything to clear.

I don't accept "Personal checks" ask for a Etransfer, Bank draft, or good old faithful CASH only. I wouldn't take a personal check or certified check either with all the scammers out there nowadays you never know.

If the guy has a canadian bank acct. E-transfer,another country Wire Transfer, and make sure funds are verified by your bank , before you sign any titles or let the boat go.

Cash or etransfer only. If the guy is serious about buying the boat he won't have a problem with that.
