On Friday, Laker John and I fished in Long Reach and we trolled about three miles up and a mile back before the three foot waves forced us to head for the ramp.

When we started trolling down-wind, the graph was filled with images that we couldn't figure out.

Is there anyone there who has seen this and does ANYONE know what the heck it is?

i blame it on the wind and current going the sameway it stirs up the water and the fishfinder cant read it right I found if u turn up your noise filter it goes away we get it on lake Ontario if you go behind a tanker.

Thanks for the advise, the situation was only happening in that area when we fished Fri AM when we fished Fri PM in a different and shallower location, the graph worked famously and again on Sat, never a hickup.

Heavy currents will toy with sonar... But I've never seen it like that... And I troll really heavy current on the st lawrence... 1-4mph current daily.. Usually it's a finer mark on the graph... Almost like your screen is a thinned out bait ball .... And I run a humminbird too...
As stated above... I'd adjust the noise setting and sensitivity... That is if it's the "current" causing the issue....

Were you still marking nice "hooks" / walleye mixed in that stuff?

that is weird. maybe some kind of plankton type stuff or bait in the water? Doesn't look like a current related thing. I fish extremely high current in the river also and have never seen that and I run a very similar HB597 unit

I'd say adjust your sensitivity to -15.
