Gotta love this board.... the friends a person can make is simply amazing...... bantering back and forth thru the threads and in the pm you come to a point were you just have to get together and fish...... years passed, and plans finely made to get together and fish and settle the disputes. tials and tributes of world peace, world hunger BOQ pros and cons of the pros and cons this started with 4 guys wanting to get together as friends and I myself believe it has bloomed into potentual life long friends. Jason, aadil sheldon and myself met this morning out on the ice where it matters most to 4 guys who love the sport of fishing to have a fish off of all fish offs. also joining in were the landshark, fisherboy,, and Trannyman.
On the ice at first light the fishing started off rather slow for us all.. managed a few, mostly thanks to Jason Luffler who whispered fisn like no man can,. I still dont know what he wispered or what promises he made to the fish but they came to him like pigs to a trough at feeding time, this man cought fish thru the day when the bite was slow for all he just now and then lifted another fish to the ice and quietly without glote smiles and says I dont know why people think this is so hard. Jason jumped into the lead and never looked back,
Late morning we were joined by a few other great guys and great fishermen for a quick shore lunch Hardwater walleye, bradbythepound, and the great cartoonist walleye assassin lots of laughs great fish fry and a wonderful way to kill an hour out on the ice......then it was back to fishing as the winds picked up we all hunkered down and fished hard , and im sure all will admit the fishing was good but not an easy bite , encept Jason still made it look easy landing 9 eyes and dropping a few at the hole, and few the quinte prince knocked off so jason didnt make us look too bad. . I cant really remember exactly what the final count was i seem to remember hearing 167, or 67, or 37 or something like that , i know i went 30 for 18 myself with only a few fish loaned to me by seldon to make my pile bigger in the end of the day!
Thanks guys........ what a day.......
Sorry not many pictures and ones we did manage at night just didnt turn out to good due to the darkness. I wish i had taken many more but really I was just too busy trying to keep up with everyone catching fish I was 0 for a million til dark when I had a steller come from behind victory over my best lil ice fishing buddy sheldon who last seen was heading down the bay at night taking his toys home cryin all the way im sure..... great friend just not a great loser if you guys know what I mean! lol ........ Thanks sheldon. always a pleasure! . ok a few pics in closing and im off to bed. Grizz

Sweet report Gents, looks like a good haul and a good time had by all!!!
As for Jason, some just have the knack to get em all the time!!!! Atleast its someone in your group that you can learn from.
Maybe a little contest, whoever gets the least/smallest has to pull the gear/hut back in for ya. Maybe Sheldon would be pullin yer shack and auger back..... Now thats a photo op...eh Grizz?

Brian. I could litterly sit here for hours and try to explain to you the BOQ fishing,. places to go depths to fish lures to use and it really means NOTHING because what the fish do or where they are today could be all together different tomarrow.......... Last year we all laughed and it became the joke of the season and the words were always the same.. HIRE A GUIDE!!! ..........
Even though we all joked about that all season long quite honistly its is really something anyone should SERIOUSLY think about when comming to quinte for the fist time and expect to do well fishing these waters... I do not guide nore do I work for a guide thus you should know i only say this in order to help you out in the long run.
Look at it this way . sure you will pay out of pocket but in the long run that money will be well spent and keep giving back to you years and years of enjoyment because the lessons you will learn will never be forgotten. I myself have never used a quinte guide but i have to say it was a long road to get to where i am now, and i still have a long road ahead to even come close to the guides on the quinte waters , these guys fish year around, do there homework and stay on top of the fish year round.
You may say to yourself I dont need no stinking guide to teach me how to fish!!! well is that really true ?? maybe a better way to look at it would be ..... if i Pay a little bit i can just jump in my car take a drive, leave the truck the ATV the gear all at home hook up pay a little learn alot and let the guides do what they do best, get you out there, supply the hut the gear the gas the time and take you to where they KNOW there is fish rather than have someone send you off to safe ice WITH NO FISH!!! . think about it....... do you tell everyone under the sun where your hot spot is right now? so when you go back there you find 100 guys, and no fish ?? It just dosnt make any sence to a real good fisherman to do such a thing. every day a guide gives up his good places so he is always always always running and gunning to find new ones because he knows when you pay him today there is a good chance next week you will be back with a bunch of friends fishing in the exact same place the guide took you too the week before!........ is that bad ? no its not but its also expected form most guides this is why there job is so hard and it keeps them fishing hard to keep finding the new spots with new fish!
....... I am really not saying any of this to be a smart Azz.... but i am saying it is very hard for anyone to just tell you where to go and what to do to catch fish because things change fish change colors change. if you would like a recomendation on a guide or two or three send me a pm and ill send you a tip with an honist oppinion on who might fit your needs depending on what you need or are looking for in a day of fishing. you want 50 eaters, or one big pig ? you want a morning fish or an all day affair ? you want to learn the ins and outs, or do you just want to be put on fish and take it from there? all these factors you have to deside and should know when talking to or booking a guide so the guide also knows what you expect for your dollar....... good luck. Grizz

Good job guy's. Now that it is a long shift on the ice. From sun up to sun down. Thanks for the invite and wish I could have made it but I really do not think I am ready yet for a 12 hour shift in front of a 8 inch hole  Glad you had fun and we will get out soon. :)

Catcher, you don't have to go all day. The best bites are usually dawn & dusk.
I had to go to work yesterday and got off early so I didn't get out with the guys until about 2 pm.

First time I ever had 2 double headers. I jig 2 rods in the hut. 1 with a rattle jig(today it was a gold Buckshot) and the other just a jigging spoon (gold). I use the rattle jig to draw the eyes in and usually catch them with the flashier spoon. I dropped the first fish on the flash spoon on both doubles and landed the ones on the Buckshot.
The buckshot rod had a stinger hook on. I only work the rattle jig rod in 5 minute intervals.

Went 4 for 6. released a pig in the 11 pound range.

It was a blast.

I guess I missed the photo opt.

hahaha you missed so much more. you missed a great fish fry, you missed Hardwaters grand entrance on the slay ride, and you missed Landshark sulking off the ice because he couldnt stand tough fishing where skills ment more than fishing in a bathtub full of fish!! *GRIN* . the ROOKIE!!!! lmao ....... im sure ill pay for that one day soon lol

It was a great day and was good to finally meet everyone. A special thanks to hardwater, bythepound and the assasin for supply fish for shore lunch as the am bite was not too hot for us and would have been a lot smaller fish fry. see ya out there.
