Battle of the Bay Cancelled Due to Weather and snow conditions.

After a discussion with Dan we regret to inform you that this year’s Battle of the Bay be cancelled due to safety and snow conditions on the ice. After looking at the impending 15 cm of snow forecasted for Saturday and the already deep snow amounts on the ice (knee to waist deep in some locations) we decided it would too much for some, as well we no longer have use of the a few folding tables and the big cooking tent we have had in the past. There has been a rash of accidents on the 401 in the past few days and those travelling from afar in the conditions forecasted is an issue as well. Safety of the board members is a main concern in the decision. Thank you for all those that have offered to help and have made donations already, those funds will be forwarded to Pat.
Tim (tylercurt)

Ok Gentleman here we go with our 4th Annual Battle of the Bay with all proceeds going to Belleville Cops and Kids Program.

Location; Wagers farm, off of Big Island
Date; Feb 1, Fishing starts at 7:30 till noon

Rules of the event**
Biggest Walleye Wins!!! (must be alive)

Again the battle grounds will be on big bay held off the shores of Wagers Farm*** remember parking is not free so bring $5 dollars for parking if you choose to park at the farm parking lot
There will be a big area staked off and this will be known as the battle grounds. The reason we do this is to keep everyone close enough we can all mingle, meet and enjoy our time out there getting to know members of the board

Start time will be 7:30.. Come early get registered and out on the ice so you can get your spot and get set up Listen for 3 blasts from an air horn at which time the battle begins.
Fishing will continue until noon at that time we will stop fishing. Mingle around. Enjoy some eats, and pull prize tickets and close out the show this will give guys time to go back to fishing if they choose or leave the area and head off to their favourite spots to fish at their leisure.

Cost will be $20 per man..... This is your personal donation and all proceeds will again go to the Belleville Police Cops and Kids program just as it has the last two years. The winner receives the Battle of the Bay Trophy and bragging rights for the year.

Prize Table:
We ask everyone to bring a prize for the table, last year this went over very well and put alot of happy smiles on people’s faces with your 20 dollar donation you also got (ONE) ticket for the prize table so in essence it pretty well guaranteed you would get a prize from the table. Numbers were called you walked up and picked your prize tickets were drawn until the prizes were gone or all tickets pulled from the can.

Last year we got some very nice prizes from a few local charter boat guys these became the big ticket prizes you will have to buy tickets for these prizes at an extra cost well worth the cost because they were great prizes as most people who were there last year know, we are still in search of big ticket prizes and they will be announced on show day and tickets will be offered for sale. Last year’s prizes were walleye trip. Musky trip salmon trip boat rental , sports prints, just to name a few. If you or anyone you know is willing to make a prize donation please contact Tylercurt so we can make arrangements to get certificates made and the prizes listed.

Food and Drinks:
This has always been a donation made by guys willing it is also a huge undertaking so please do not donate lightly remember if you are willing to donate food you must keep in mind the food needs to be kept hot or must be served up so don’t bring soup with no bowls or spoons to eat the soup..I would suggest you team up with another friend to make it happen one cooks one gets bread one brings bowls and plastic silverwhere.. So Far many guys have offered help with machines if you can’t walk or get your gear out there someone will be around to give you a hand.

We need the following;
Volunteers; for Set up and Tear Down, Selling Tickets, Garbage, weigh Station, Cooking. Volunteers can fish or help out where needed during the day.
Large tent for preparing food if possible- ( nuggy1 Tims Tent)
BBQ’s or large heat sources for reheating food, Big Gene
Food, type and quantity, refreshments as well. ( Dog Lake-venison sausages) (Big Gene) (Dan Elliot dogs, buns and condiments)

Garbage; cans and disposal
Weight station and volunteer, one scale for all fish
Registration; $20 donation, 2 volunteers to handle tickets and cash

Everyone to bring something for the prize table if possible (this way almost everyone goes home with something, see if your boss can donate an item for the table)
Volunteers to set up Fishing Area.
Transportation to and from parking lot or bottom of the hill on the ice for equipment and anyone that needs assistance. (Bruce, Kevin, Big Gene[b]nuggy1 [/b
If there is anything that you feel is missing or needs to be added please PM me and we can discuss it further.
