Was planning on sitting in a canoe this weekend on the Trent River and not heading out past the mouth to the Bay. Hopefully the weather permits so I can do this! :ugeek:

I'd say You would have a tough time keeping fish alive with no live well but in a canoe in the rain your whole vessel is a live well haha.

Be safe that wind is no joke

If you're out there in low light conditions fix some lights to your canoe that will be visible from all directions, even though you're not required.

With the amount of boats running up and down the river creating wakes, and the amount of current coming down the Trent river, I would have second thoughts about being out there in a canoe.

Not to concerned about that right in the river, used to fish from my bass boat in there and you can only go so fast anyways. More concerned about mother nature's white caps.

That's what your flashlight is for. I almost took out a canoe coming into Picton, couldn't see them at all and no light.

I used to take out a canoe in the Bay in my younger days. Won't do it any longer. The Bay can whip up in a hurry but if you can paddle you can deal with that. The hard part is the other boaters and boat wakes. They will either run you down or swamp you and won't even notice. They will feel a little bump and think they hit a log.

If you are going to go put in somewhere where there is protection from the W N/W winds. Point Anne is good if you stick close to shore. There is a couple canoe launch areas down by the quarries

Not going out for opening weekend in the conditions we had, sucks. Sorry to hear. Opener is almost equal to Christmas in our household. As a Leaf fan, I am aware of the mantra, Just wait til next year.
