Short answer... yes

A touch longer answer... they are being caught but not in any great numbers.

We landed 2 this morning. An 18 and a 20.

The County has also stopped putting up the no launching signs at the beach side.

Are we reading these correctly? A launch costs $15 this year?

Last we can recall it was $5 or something close. That might be a while back.

Sounds like it. I never mind paying a launch fee if the money stays at that launch for maintenance and improvements.

I'd almost bet the money box is very infrequently used. I paid last year and an guy sitting in a car said I was the first one to pay all day. After you launch be prepared to wade through a foot of water to get back to the dock and your boat

Got out once this weekend.

Went 7 for 10. Couple rigger hits but most came on wire dipsy with a Dr and fly.

Biggest was 22 pushing 23 on the boga grip.Image

I've wanted to head out there in my 620VS for maybe a salmon/smallies day. I'm a new boater so I'm a bit hesitant to take on the big lake.

Watch the wind forecasts and wave forecasts.

Guys will fish for salmon in kayaks and tiller tinnys. You should be good in a 20 foot ranger.

I find 2 ft on the buoy measurement all that I want to be out in.

As for smallies... never tried out of Wellington. I'm sure they are around Nicholson or the Bonnet Island. May pick of some eyes while trying for the bass. Who knows?? Good luck
