how is everyones fishing going this summer

Just wanted to know how everyone has been doing whether it be bait, lures or flies (ALL fishing is good fishing !!

).
So far I've been doing great on the bass, 99% of which were on flies but got a nice bass on a carolina rig with the spinning rod last weekend.

Not doing too well this year. Have not caught a fish of any kind yet but I have not given up hope. I use only artificial lures. No worms or minnows. Maybe I will go to Smiths Bay and try for pike. I must be the only one skunked this year, judging from this forum everyone else seems to be catching some although when I launch my boat and talk to others they don't seem to be catching any either. I guess if you live next to the BOQ you can fish more often and increase your chances because you get to know the hot spots and techniques.

don't feel to bad as I NEVER catch fish in BOQ, all mine are caught in rivers or creeks. I stay away from the bay. Some people just have better luck in certain areas. try the moira near the lott dam, some muskie and bass there !!!

Its going well for numbers of bass but not as well for size. I was fishing hay bay earlier this week. There were alot of fish jumping in the area I was working but I couldnt get them to bite. I threw senkos, spinnerbaits, worms, tubes and jigs.... nothing I finally decided to tie on a buzzbait and my luck changed. They hammered it. What a blast watching fish chase the bait and whack it. Most of them were 2lbers but a couple were over 3 lbs and a pike right beside the boat was about 6lbs.

My fishing is going okay, with three local trips making me very happy.

Walleye with Superdad, fishing with a relative north of Napanee for bass and fishing for some trout in a small local creek all made my recent trip most pleasent. I also fished in Quebec and will soon be fishing on Vancouver Island when I am working in the area, for some tasty salmon and perhaps the elusive (for me) halibut.

I am becoming curious about learning how to Chironomid fish, in order to capitalize on the trout lakes north of Napanee that seemingly shut off following ice off. I am so curious about whether this BC phenomenon could have a local application. Any ideas from any flyfishermen viewing by chance?

This weekend will likley see me fish for some smallish rainbows in a local mountain lake.

stanley20footer....I haven't lived in the Quinte area for more than 20 years. I too have spent good $$ making that drive to take a skunk'n on the Quinte. Athough my earie dearie tipped with a worm :wink:

, has rarely let me down there, also a shallow running crankbait in the evening. The evening fish seems to be the best 7pm till past dark, just about everywhere I've fished.

Hey Don !! Chironomids (bloodworms, I feed these to my african ropefish and my clown loaches) are pretty easy to use, cast out, let them sink, and retreive them steady but really slow, I do really well with them, you could use a nymphing technique in fast moving streams however.

I release all my fish, not because I don't think keeping fish are wrong, nothing wrong with that !!! I just don't really like the taste of fish but fishing is my life. just can't really stand the taste. and since I can't fish for angus cows.........

I stay within the laws of the MNR so what I eat is well deserved!!!! I clean up garbage all over the place, that's something worth talking about! THE GARBAGE around meyers and the Bay Bridge is a DISGRACE!!!!!!

I have a great year on the bay.

I couldnt buy a fish last year but my perseverance, stubborness and willing to change my walleye habits has paid off. I love this body of water.

Wish there wasnt a bass tournament every weekend.
