I talked with Rod, They docked and had a big fish to weigh. They went up and did that and I think they had big fish for the pay everyday tourney. They called and checked in with the BP. They got back to the boat after all that 25 min the BP was on the boat. Went thru the whole thing and held them for 3 hours doing this crap. After all was said and done, either $1000.00 or your boat. Reason, they said they didnt call the min they docked. So fish Canada at your own risk, if they want your money not much you can do. Sounds like some of the TSA agents at our airports on there little power trip to me, BW

Unfortunaly i am under the impression that under nexus this is allowed.. but wait a minute.. no one is using nexus aparently..
so they get a 1000 fine for not making a phone call..

I think the american/ canadian fine should be the same amount...
the fine's the americans are giving out is 200 thats why there is alot less talk about it, but they are diffently being handed out.. i can get my hands on a ticket if you dont belive me... a guy down the street got one, he has a jet boat, was towing his kids on a tube, kid fell of tube, boat pulled up on them turned out they were in u.s.a water and because they had stopped they had landed..
you really got to watch your gps in the st.lawarance its easy to end up in the wrong waters...

Fireball, you can call in from certain marinas that have the toll free number displayed. You call in, give them your boat id number, info about you and your passengers, answer a few questions, and then they give you a call in number for the day. I have applied for the NEXUS card and once i get that i can call in up to 30 minutes before i leave the states.

The first time i called in, they asked me where i was calling from and i stated i was still in ABAy getting ready to cross and was on my cell phone. She told me i could not use the cell phone and could go to Rockport and use the pay phone. I went to Rockport and called in using the phone in the Store at Andress marina, she identified where i was calling from with caller id. Last week i pulled up at the dock at andress and called using my cell phone, told her where i was, she didnt aski if i was using my cell phone and i didnt offer. Obviously through caller id she must have know i was using cell phone.

I witnessed the whole deal in Whitby. Rod & the Oh Baby Team asked us how to get to Tightline's to weigh the salmon in the Pay Every Day Derby. Met Rod & Jeff in 2009 in Dalhousie at the Spring KOTL. Great guys. Rod was the 1st guy on the other side of the pond to purchase M. C. Rockets and I delivered them to him. One of his team mates in 2010 fished the Wilson KOTL with us. We were just chatting after they docked the boat. I had assumed that the owner had called in, but he hadn't and they all left the boat and took the cooler up and put in Jeff's truck. It was a combination of infractions that got them the fine. It was minor and I think that they should have just got a warning.

Before our first tournament in New York I spent hours researching procedures for landing in each New York port and was always 100% positive where the reporting phone was. We always called immediately when landing.

It was too bad what happened to Rod & the team, ruined the weekend for them.

Later
Al
