Will be more sensitive. Both will mark bottom fine but with more power you may see smaller objects (ie: smaller fish at deeper depths, baitfish & thermocline) or determine bottom composition better.
For example on Simcoe I can easily see my bad boyz jig in 90' of water with the 170 but I doubt it would show up near as good on a 160.
