Brent, my heart goes out to you and the rest of your family. A tragic day for all of Amherst Island to lose one of their own.

Yes - a very sad story for sure - when your out on the water all things can happen - I wonder what size boat they were in - sometimes I see guys out there in the big water in very small boats and I often wonder if it is safe

Thanks tomfoolery, JoePa, DanElliot, much appreciated, Thanks Rob!! you know Russel and Keith, Sarah and Jane are strong people, but to see them and the whole family hurt so bad its just so heart breaking, I don't know how much the family can take, we are due for a break. I know it hits the whole island hard, everyone knew him for better or for worse. Tough days ahead, We'll get through it, Ron would want us to have a beer.... or 20 ....and celebrate his life and be thankful for the time we had with him.

Thanks fishmagnet69, he'd like that, I'm sure most people reading these posts don't know Ron, One thing I can tell you is Ron was a Beer drinker, he didn't have a problem or anything, he was just like every other good ol boy, he'd work construction all day and liked to come home and have a couple cold ones. Budweiser is sure gonna miss him, he was a good supporter of their products. He grew up on a farm, and was still very actively involved in the farm, like I said earlier he liked to work hard and play even harder. He was so ambitious, didn't have a lazy bone in his body. I'm not trying to make him out to be the perfect human, because he wasn't, he had his faults, like we all do, but he was a good person with a huge heart who didn't get the fate he deserved.

Its very sad Ginner; my thoughts to you and the families. The local fishing community is small, so its very hard to hear when anyone fails to come home after a day out.

Thanks Clapp, means a lot man. It makes it ten times harder that he was so close to making it, surviving was right at his finger tips. 8ft of water, he was less then 50 yards from 4ft of water that he could have touched bottom in. Sorry to anyone that doesn't wanna read any of this. Like I said earlier it helps me to talk about it. Thanks again to all for all the condolences, thought and prayers.
