Quinte Fishing

A little better today in east end, saw a few 20" fish landed. water warming up to 54F in river

I have spent that last to days out in the kayak, tones of paddling but no fish. Sore arms and bruised ego. Oh well, thats fishing.

Well the fishing did not disappoint on Trent river. I caught my fill and it was great to be on the boat after all this isolation crap.
Not once did I come close to any other boater or person. Everyone maintained social distancing. The closest I came to anyone was at LCBO after to pick up some beers.

Thats good news Shonnr. I thought that they were gone. I actually wondered if the water was still too cold? Can I ask what presentation and depth you fished?

We did well jigging and trolling . There didn't seem to be as many as last year or the year before but it was still good . I had to work a little harder than usual. My thoughts are that the fish might not be glued to the bottom in the river because the water flow is definitely way down from previous years .
With that said i have spent the last few years perfecting my technique at keeping my jig glued to the bottom due to high current . This year the fish did not seem to be glued to the bottom .If you've spent any time jigging theTrent river you will know the bottom is very snaggy . So the part is keeping jig on the bottom but not dragging the bottom .
Thats my experience anyway.Others may have different approaches.

Fished Brighton Bay on Sunday morning for a few hours and netted a 10.5 walleye trolling a chartreuse Riplin Redfin. Buddy and I also landed a few small pike.

So... If I go out again tonight, what depth should I target? I live really close to Blakewoods lodge if you have any spots to recommend that I could paddle to in my kayak.
