Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated !

Do you find it pretty easy to deploy, and then lift/stow ? I do a lot of run 'n gun bass fishing in summer. Currently running a Terrova with I-pilot and 2 HB's....was thinking of upgrading to the Ulterra, just to save my back. However, I'm hearing good things about the Ghost, and also the Force from Garmin. It seems that every manufacturer wants you tie in their electronics with their motor...if you want full functionality.

The ghost has a gas assist shock to help with stowing and lifting.

Nice Fish !!

What did you think of the Ghost trolling motor ? I understand that with the ECM (brushless motor) you get more power and longer battery life, but I've also heard negative reports on it's connectivity...you pretty well need the CARBON model sonar from Lowrance to realize full functionality. Also, unlike the Minnkota Ulterra...there's no power lift/remote deployment...which is handy for us old guys at the ramp by ourselves. Just looking for your over-all thoughts. Thanks.

Just getting it figured out but I have hds carbon sonar which is what made it a good option. I found it super easy to use, yet have a few question that lowrance tec support is working on. other then not being able to read the power percentage or mph that the motor is set at on sonar it was flawless. I plan all my trolling routes on the carbon and save them. deploy the trolling motor, turn on kicker motor and the ghost steers the boat along the set route. I am aware that the ipilot link will do the same things but I would have had to change sonars as well. As far as power and battery life Didn't notice a difference yet since kicker does most of work.
Haven't even touch the following contours or any of the other features that the motor has, will have to let you know.
Biggest reason I change was that the motor guide that was on boat was having issues and the warranty was over.
we ran the same 4 routes all weekend and landed fish after fish, I did run the batteries dead on Saturday but I had the ghost set at 80% when 40% would have done the job. In the 30 mins I manually steered the boat I lost 3 spoons and broke 3 lines (fighting fish and snapping pics lol) may pay it off in saved tackle.
I am told the new ti elites will run the motor and was told that the ulterra doesn't like the cold weather and that was a no go for me since I need to fish until the lures bounce when casting lol.
over all it is a great option for me and my application.

My xi5 is pissing me off! If I hit the heading button on the remote or the lowrance unit the xi5 makes the boat turn into a sharp circle. This has caused a few bad rigger and dipsey tangles. Overcast days it seems the worst.

I’m interested in getting the ghost. I think I read the gps isn’t in the head unit? It’s like a puck heading sensor that goes on the boat? I’m thinking that might help with preventing the issue xi5 has? As well, I’m in need of a 72” shaft and haven’t heard yet if/when lowrance plans to release a ghost with 72”?

Just make sure to check on service and who can service the motor if you have problems. I too wanted to put the Force on my new Ranger FS but they only have 57 inch shaft and there is knowone to service these in Ontario unless that has changed recently. I know they asked Jim at the prop shop to be one of their service depots but he didn’t need the headaches that come with it.. He prides himself in being able to service almost anything required on a Minn Kota as he carries the parts .The cost to carry all the Force parts is not reasonable and if I’m not mistaken they are made in Taiwan or China and parts may be hard to come by in a timely fashion to get you back on the water. Just a few things to consider, do your homework so your not disappointed down the road. Had I not had the problems I’ve had since taking my boat in September you would have had company most days out there. Looking forward to hopefully joining you early spring!

Not sure where to get Lowrance serviced but I knew all the service spots for motor guide from Mississauga to Inverary. Which is why I switched.
