No rhetoric, just relaying what my doctor has told me as to why we can't get the medical attention we need, Covid/Flue is a hot topic and clearly not everybody is on the same page or having the same life experiences.
Dan perhaps you should lock this thread to stop the personal attacks?

What does this have to do with fishing ?

I suggest we create a "Safe Space" forum where we can talk non-fishing related stuff ? Maybe have some games and coloring ?

I was pleasantly surprised that on KRock this morning, the news reporter actually said "...if you're ice fishing, only those from YOUR household are allowed in your hut!"

People are saying the hospitals are filling up with Covid cases. This may be so, but as many people can tell you our hospitals were already at or over capacity last year, 2 years ago and 5 years ago.
The health system is not and has not been "healthy" for many years.
For the last 15 years if not more nurses have been recruited by Texas, Georgia, Michigan and many other states to come down to work under better conditions for better pay and lower taxes. Anyone who has been unlucky enough to make a visit to our emerg in the last 10 years will attest to this overcrowding, it is not a new thing. We have great people in our system, just a huge problem with the way it is managed.

Hey All,

My intention for my post was not to stir up any COVID v. Anti-COVID rhetoric. I think we can all agree that COVID is a thing and a serious thing.

My point was that this serious thing is being used by some to create division among those who make up a (relatively) coherent group. Sure, fisher-people have disagreements (see: bass boats v. watercraft and wake size/effect, water-levels and wake restrictions, Uzik Spinner v. Erie-deary), but when it comes to ratting out your fellow community folk over and arbitrary number of people gathering it seems to fall outside of the general well being of our community. If one were to feel so put out by the number of gatherers, perhaps a polite conversation with the folks would be a better way to inform and protect, rather than sic the man on them?

I would think that this type of thing is not the ordinary situation. I don't want more than 3 other dudes in my hut anyways. All those stinking, farting, burping mouth breathers scare away the fish.

Just my 2cents.

Can anyone explain to me why there are all these rules but the NHL play is exempt ? I guess poor working folks can abide by the rules but the millionaires don’t.

millionaires need exercise too! :D But my guess is besides the obvious revenue issue is if they want people to stay home much as possible having hockey games to watch is a good incentive. At least they are allowing outdoor activities and recognize exercise is an essential activity. If they locked us down in our houses for 28 days that would be insane.

COVID-19 Outdoor Restrictions Update
Earlier this week the Ontario government announced a second province-wide State-of-Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday (January 14) and includes a stay-at-home directive for all Ontarians. That has many anglers and hunters wondering what that means for their hunting and fishing plans this winter.

The OFAH reached out to government officials to seek additional clarity and confirmed that fishing and hunting activities remain permitted, so long as they are consistent with public health guidelines.

You can find out more details at http://www.ofah.org/covid19.

The OFAH is committed to sharing updates as we receive them to ensure anglers and hunters are well informed. Updates will be shared through OFAH e-news, posted to social media and will be made available through the many COVID-19 resource pages on our website.

General information: http://www.ofah.org/covid19

Closure information: http://www.ofah.org/covid19closures

Outdoors safety tips: http://www.ofah.org/safetytips

COVID-19 FAQ: http://www.ofah.org/covid19/faq

Stay Safe. Stay Strong.

The entire OFAH team.

Good news guys I had reached out to the police department it sounds like they said that it is at the officers discretion but said you “should” be fine he didn’t see any issue with it as long as your abiding covid social distancing.

I dont think anyone here really thinks covid numbers are being pushed up by fishing. Some good information shared here and it really sucks that we are even having this discussion but since we are remember to do so respectfully. People are being impacted by covid directly and all of us indirectly.

Didn't we ride this merry go-round last spring, everybody is entitled to their opinion, that right is what my farther and grandpa fought for.
IMHO
bigboybassy has the closest to a logical response, even he closed with "Should be Fine".
Perhaps Ford will clarify in this afternoons press conference
Lets look at it from another direction.
ICU beds are filling up as we speak, hallway triage is a real possibility. Think of those waiting for operations getting delayed. My wife lost the vision in her left eye, last October was told she needed cataract surgery to save the vision in her right eye, no appointments for the initial assessment, they are still trying to catch up from last springs shut down. She is going blind as we wait.
As for me.
On Jan 4th I was told I should have major surgery this year, Covid/ICU Beds allowing, it's about the quality my of life and very much life threatening if untreated. If I do get surgery we have been told they are not booking people for short term care and there is a PSW shortage, there is no help in caring for my wife while I recuperate.
So instead of looking for loopholes whats wrong with following or exceeding the guidelines for the health and safety of your neighbour.
Last rant
IMHO there are 2 types of people, those that understand and try to be part of the solution and those that ignore the issue and become part of the problem.
Gamble with you health all you want but when your actions impact my families health I get angry.
Just one mans opinion and real life situation.

BHW please stop the rhetoric. When all you can do is spew what the news tells you, you have nothing to contribute that you thought up yourself. If you fear the flu, stay the F home and preach to your cat

Thanks Billy Dee for a logical post above. Maybe we can lock this thread or this will never end...
