Is there a reason given for the possible closure? Is it a covid thing? Are they closing the ramps to stop the hoards of infected fishermen and women from outside our bubble? Short of having a monitor at all the ramps to check residency i don't know what they can do if they are doing it because of covid . It's a tough call for sure that really effects the local anglers, Unless they shut down the 401 there are all kinds of people coming down from high case areas and i doubt they are all fishing. I think we are all pretty aware of the virus and the steps we need to take and can take to keep ourselves and families safe. Having 4 or 5 people from outside our bubble on a 20 or 21 foot boat isn't one of them. Pretty crappy situation all around isn't it?

On the local news earlier this week they had an Uber passenger that said he was driven by a person who came from Oshawa just to work for the weekend. They stated that it is not just 1 or 2 people coming here either to drive locals around.

There has been a report created with recommendations on how to cope with the large number of visitors to PEC

In terms of Wellington in particular suggestions were made that closing the ramps totally or on weekends may help with congestion for the beach goers. The report also felt people with boats in tow were more of a hazard.

So am i to believe they are shutting down the ramps so the beaches aren't too busy? And somehow drivers towing boats are more dangerous than regular vehicles. Boy they went all out on that research didn't they? The launching and loading of a boat is a pretty "non-contact" event so are we trying to stop tourist fishermen from stopping and filling up their vehicles , grabbing a bite and possibly even staying the night? If so are these events closed to all "non PEC people"? They really have no idea of the fishing economics do they? Will the wine tours and B&B be closed, I get the reason behind this but it really isn't a well thought out plan at all. Is there even a fisherman on council. These ill conceived plans may come back to haunt them
