I am astonished with the selfishness of our society. I get it, no one likes lockdowns. We live in a democracy (which is on life support) so people can be open and critical, that’s a right. However, with rights come responsibilities. When people do whatever the hell they want, they are not living up to their responsibilities. We are supposed to have a responsibility for one another. That’s what this Virus is bringing to the forefront- that no one gives two $^its about anyone but themselves. Most get the sniffles? These variants are now putting a much younger demographic at risk, and filling our ICU’s. surgeries are cancelled, and doctors are seeing limited numbers of patients. We all have a job to do. I am glad that I have had a pretty cushy life so far, and haven’t had to endure a world war, conscription, or famine in my 42 years. If the most we are being asked to do is tag home, not gather in groups, and heaven forbid isolate with the internet, then I don’t understand why this is so damn hard? Come on people, you don’t want communism, you don’t like the responsibility of democracy, so what is it going to be? Every man for himself? Not the country I loved so much in my youth, times are changing. Very worried for my own kids.

No 1 that I see is denying Covid is a problem. The problem is the way it is being handled and reported in MSM.
In the last year there have been close to zero flu deaths, all are Covid related hmmmm. So is the flu a thing of the past?
If you are rushed to the hospital with a heart attack or stroke and you die, it is now a Covid related death if you have tested positive.
Numbers have been inflated and twisted by government as well as media and it fuels the hysteria that is a part of our everyday life now.
Look at the numbers streaming out in the last few days, anywhere from 10,000-30,000 cases possible per day. Why do we only see worst case scenarios???
Because low forecast numbers do not meet the criteria for all the stricter lock-down measures or sell papers, even though they are a distinct possibility.
Many contact tracing tests are being done which is good, and many of these people are testing positive, however the majority are showing no effects or very little and would not even know they had it except for the positive test result.
Be careful, wash hands often, keep safe social distancing, and stay aware of others around you. Do these basic things and you should be alright.
As for Polio vaccines Chicken pox and rubella as well as others, they have all been tested short and long term and proven safe.
When new serums are rolled out too quickly with little to no oversight by big pharm companies rushing to be first and make the most money, short cuts happen.
Very few if any animals were hurt in vaccine testing(PETA loves that) before rollout. We are the test subjects. Long term effects are unknown yet. Ever heard of thalomide?
I will wait a bit before I do take a vaccine as I do like to travel south.
All this is just my opinion, so take it with a few grains of salt.

Ok guys all are entitled to voice their thoughts...and until u have walked a mile in the others shoes we have no idea how or why their options s have been influenced... opinions are just like buttholes..... everybody has one. And that's OK. Another point is I seriously doubt that any of us have changed our opnions based on others opinions (words) on this forum... the battle is not us against each other.... its with all of us and this dreadful virus.... and perhaps to a lesser degree... but we MUST pay attention to what the government has been doin...not doing in the last year. I am no conspiracy guy... BUT we don't have to accept all the crap the gov is doing. This has not been handled well. Bottom line is I will be fishing and I will do everything in my power to keep myself and others safe in every way I am able when I am outdoor

Weak federal leadership! More than a year into this we’re worse off then when it started. Covid and it’s variants landed here on a plane. And yet plane loads of people still landing at Pearson every day from now the variant countries. It’s cost lives, mental health, jobs, financial ruin, unsustainable federal debt and now, divisiveness amongst a bunch of guys and gals who have one thing in common, we all just want to get out and fish. The responsibility of the federal government of a country is to protect its boundaries, protect the well being of its citizens and financial prudence. This federal government has failed miserably on all counts. Let’s stop taking it out on each other and take out at the top. That’s my 2 cents.

My daughter was born and raised in Quinte and now lives in Michigan. Her daughters have their Canadian citizenship, her husband of 20 years is a decorated veteran of the US military. She and her family want to spend time with their terminally ill mother/grandmother, if she shows up at a land crossing she will be denied entry, she must apply for pre-approval and provide a negative test. Anyone in India or Brazil who can afford a plane ticket is welcomed at the airport with open arms and if they cannot afford the hotel quarintine it's all on us taxpayers. Where has this federal government, who to date can't supply enough vaccine gotten their priorities, oh I forgot more vaccine coming in June, "the cheques in the mail".

We've been a spoiled generation, and the shear selfishness of "it's all about ME, ME, ME" is not what my grandfather died for on a muddy hillside in Europe...if that generation was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, the least we can do is suffer through some bad NetFlix shows...

SanderMan You were not being racist it was turned into a racial slur by another poster or two, happens yearly when the addressed subject comes up. Just some others try to take it out of context.
