The water levels will all be down for years esp in Ontario and Superior. So way cant the dock have floating side docks or a wall and recessed cleats. We do these things in Montreal (varies several feet)and on Lake Champlain (varies 5-6 ft)!

Who then will fix it besides mega rain??

thks

Beauty day - no fish!

The ramp at Glenora is AOK and ready to go for the weekend. There were three other boats out besides us. We talked to two boats and they were skunked as well.

The fish don't seem to be around now where they were a month or two ago. Yet this time last year [Jan 24 or so] we caught four nice ones in front of the cement plant.

Our boat is home, and we're done with the open water for the year. Good luck if you go out, not sure it's worth it.

Sorry nobody got fish, but to be honest, would have been painful had you filled the boat, misery loves company.

Last year around this time (late Dec / early Jan) we got 44 walleye over 3 trips, mostly from Picton Bay to the cement plant. Unfortunatly its under ice this year. I think they are up in the bays under ice, the ice fisherman will get them.

I'm in. Did you get a hold of sister Mac? He'd better not sissy out on us.

I can't let you go by yourself as that would be selfish and irresponsible to deprive you of the safety that is my company.

I view my accompaniment as a public service in the best interests of safety and as such is completely and totally selfless.

Yours Truly, the Ever Reliable.

Is the area out in front of Merland Park now open? It was all ice on Tuesday north to the cement plant. If thats open, it might be worth one more trip back.

It's open water to the cement plant, and up the Reach beyond Thompson and Sherman Points. I could see a long way to the west towards Picton Bay, and it is possible there is no ice in front of Merland's, although we did not go that far west.

Maybe we should have - there were no fish to be caught between the yellow house east of the ferry and the cement plant. I don't know why we didn't catch any - we did very well in those areas this time last year.

Temperatures are forecast to be mild this week, hovering around freezing or a shade below, which I don't think will be enough to freeze things up. I predict open-water fishing all week for those who want to try. If people posted up that they were catching lots of fish, I would trailer our boat back for another try.

kmbf I`m eagerly waiting for your report on launches, last year I was in the boat on the 14 of Jan and that night the temps plummeted to -14 and the bay locked up. We did well also, 4 people in the boat and 133 eyes landed. Got the batteries on charging as I write this.

Teppy no dice, boat launches are not looking good for Belleville area Herchimer/george not open yet and bay is not open that far,Looks like from bay bridge to cow island is open now with no access.Went over bridge to rossmore launch which has a large white iceburg blown into shore in the launch itself. This launch is not very good at best of days and with the low water we have it's very bad.I didn't go out to massasaga point to check to see if it's open but looks like it maybe from view from bridge just the narrows itself(green bouy area).Well with the Temps. on the weather network it may not freeze and still open up with the large in rush of water from the river,STAY POSTED.K.M.B.F. (HALF MY LIFE I HAVE FISHED ,THE OTHER HALF I HAVE WASTED)

Thanks for the update kmbf, if things change keep me posted. The weather isn`t looking good for ice making. I wish mother nature would either let me get in the boat or on the ice.
