Quinte Fishing

I fished at Huff's yesterday and today and noted that for the most part anglers pick up their waste on their way out. I say for the most part because there are still some lacking in manners and consideration for the waters they fish. This morning's couple were real beauts. I noted that their Timmies cups were thrown out their ice hut after they finished. No biggie right because I'm assuming they'll pick up their cups when they head out. I watched them fold up their hut and pack all their gear, except for the two cups that stood out on the snow. So I intercepted their path on the way out and chatted them up about their morning's fishing. Once the pleasantries were completed I politely asked that they return and pick up their cups. "Oh no, those aren't our cups, they were there this morning." Little did they know that I was there last evening until last light and back out this morning before light, so that didn't wash. So instead of getting 'into it'. I just gave them the "Is that right?" and picked up the cups. They probably chuckled like little kids going into to shore in thinking they had pulled one over on me. What made it worse is that one of the lads was wearing a brand new construction chartreuse work jacket with the company name front and centre. Not the best advertising.

So if you come across those who have left their crap on the ice or by the shore, be the better person and take it home with you. Thanks for those who do this already and to those who will in the future. Mitch

there really is no cure for stupid, its not til they get cought and pay the 250 dollar fine that it will sink in that the cup weighs alot less once its empty and much easier to carryout then it was to carry in then it is to go to court and pay the fines.......... I dont know how it works in canada but in the states you have every right in the world to stop a fisherman or a hunter and ask to see there licens, if they refuse thay can be fined for that as well....... Good on you for picking it up, had it been me id have given them one more chance to pick it up before i pulled out the cell and dialed the opp, I know what I witnessed and thats all that matters to me right is right and WRONG IS WRONG!!!

Southern Ontario is becoming notorious for things like this. I can only imagine what the bottom of waterbodies like Big Bay or Lake Simcoe look like after a long ice season.

Yes, I picked up some coffee cups at Potters Creek, also, you would think people would look after a parking lot that we are able to use, its not easy finding good access to a fishing spot.

I've picked up a few small propane containers so far this year off the ice. I can't believe how ignorant some people are.

i always find it funny how people can carry a full cup of timmies out and make sure they dont spill any on the way out....but its to heavy to carry an EMPTY cup weighing one third of the weight back to shore with them.

I was out at huffs the same day and saw the coffe cup get thrown out of the hut. In addition someone in the group behind us had a sweet tooth, as every hour or so a candy bar wrapper would float by on the wind. I can't believe some people. And then people wonder why some landowners will no longer let people use their land to access the bay.

Stay safe and leave nothing but tracks.

i walked away from few cups one day by mistake just forgot we tossed em outta the hut.some dude nicely reminded us.i can speak for myself and say if i leave anything its a 'forgot about it' thing.........maybe ill start takina bag to fill

Its funny that people will walk right by a couple of cups that they claim arent their's when in reality they put them there. Regardless of who put them there pick up the damn garbage! I think it is unacceptable to leave any garbage on the ice whether its yours or someone elses. This *** makes me mad.
