Went up Saturday morning after reading the forecast which was for only 20km/h winds vs. the 45 km/h (phew!). Got to Bayview and ran into Highhopes who's CAMPING for the week.
BRRR. Started out at Sherman's and worked our way to Thompson's where we marked fish in the deeper water around 30 - 40 feet, had a hit that felt pretty decent which got off after about 15 seconds. That was with the Taildancer in Hot Chub. Got to Thompson's and switched to Uzick's for a while and ended up with two Gobies and a Perch for our troubles. Motored over to the Church for a bit and trolled over past the pig farm NADA. Tried around the green buoy by Ram Island then the dock side of Ram, nothing. Over by the weed island nothing. Bayview shoal nothing. Repeated this on Sunday with one Gobie about an inch and a half long to show for it. All in all, fished about 4 1/2 hours each day with a Perch and 3 Gobies to show for it all. I wanted to try the deep water in the reach along the west shore to the cement plant as I had seen a charter boat and 3 other boats working that side, but the water was a little too rough for the wife as she had a serious back injury a couple of years ago which has all but turned me into a fair weather fisherman.
...at least until it's too cold for her and I can tackle any waves I feel like
Anyhow, will be back up on Thursday to close up the trailer and give it one last gasp! (Unless Superdad wants to show me how to fish in the COLD in November!)
cheers
Ken
