I have suggested numerous times to Kevin to post reports. Well kevin is a little computer shy so he sent me the report to post on his behalf.

Re: Picton Bay Fishing Report – September 22 to October 5, 2003
The fishing in Picton Bay was excellent the week of September 22, with clear blue skies and some calm water days. The Leon Hordyk fishing club of approximately 18 guys were down and almost everyone caught fish, most of which were released after some great photo opportunities. Some of the fish were caught using a worm harness, slow trolling with weighted long lines. We have attached a few pictures.
This past week due to rough waters and colder than normal temperatures, the fishing has slowed down. The bait fish have started to move in, and the walleye appear to be feeding heavy at night. This morning, however, the fishing may be turning on again as one guest caught a 27” walleye weighing in at 5lbs, caught on a Hot Chub Rapala Taildancers TD9.
Pike & Bass fishing has been good, as the weedlines die off the smaller fish are being forced into the open waters due to a lack of oxygen and the Pike are hitting close to shore looking for food. Please see picture attached of a 14lb Pike caught the last week in September. The bass, although close to the weedlines seem to be hitting in the deeper waters.
Kevin Lavers, the owner of Merland Park Cottages, has been informed by Italo Labignon of Canadian Sportfishing that the salmon may have started to come into the shallow waters of Picton Bay. The Salmon can be caught close to the shorelines using glow-in-the-dark type lures, at night.
As the colder weather continues to move in we can only expect the bigger and better walleye fishing in the Picton Bay.
