From the reports, fishing has slowed down since the great summer bit.

Typically this time of year, the big fish from Lake Ontario start moving into the Bay of Qunite as they are following the Shad. Seen on some reports that the Shad seem to be there.

Basically the closure we get to ice up, the more fish move into Picton Bay (at least in this area of the bay). Try trolling in the open area of the bay in front of the Cement plant. The whole area from the cement plant to the ferry is good. Sometimes you have to go looking for them in this area but if you stay out there you should get some fish.

One trick is to pay attention to where other boats are fishing. In particular the guide boats. I wouldn't go follow them around but if they are fishing in Picton Bay there is a good chance there are fish there. Like wise if they are in front of the cement plant.

Also, if you are staying at Merlans make sure you talk to other fisherman. Someone is usually getting fish.

We will be doing our annual fall trip Nov 6-9. Good Luck.

Cheers,

Mike
