Does anyone have, or know of someone, who had to deal with SmokerCraft warranty issues? My Dad's boat is only 3.5 yrs old, and its one of their hi-end fishing boats, and rivets are loosening at an alarming rate, almost 40 since the spring. My dad was telling me he has to pay the freight, to the place where they fix them, and 15% of the cost to fix. Does that sound right??

I have a SmokerCraft 168 Pro Mag. I fell running out the door to check it. All are good and tight.I bought it here in Belleville @ JP Marine. A couple questions come to mind, did your Dad contact where he got and does your Dad live along ways away from dealer. I read the warranty sounds like Dad should get a break here. I would contact Smoker , Email them. The 1st year they sent me a Xmas card, they said they are a family business. It's worth a try.www.smokercraft.com

A friend of mine had a 97' Sylvan ProSelect with a similar problem. He contated the factory and was told his boat was under recall due to a bad rivoter on one of the lines around the time his boat was built. He didn't want to wait for the dealership to drag it down to the factory, so he took it himself. They replaced all the rivots and repainted it free of charge. They also gave him a tour of the plant. SmokerCraft, Sylvan and Legend hulls are built in the same plant in Indianna.
However, the 10 year SmokerCraft/Sylvan factory warranty is pro-rated after the first 2 years. Eg: First two years, free hull repairs, 3rd year you pay 15% and so on, 10th year you pay 90%(at least that's what mine says). I would suggest calling the factory directly and see what they say.
Myself, I have a '99 16' SmokerCraft ProTiller and it's taken some pretty good beatings out on lakes Erie & Ontario and has no loose rivots and doesn't leak a drop.
