Would appreciate any comments, good or bad, on this manufacturer of ice shelters. Have a line on a 4'x6' for $125 and 6'x8' for $140. Not sure what the exact models are? Thanks in advance for the help.

Absolute garbage. Had one from walmart and it was crap. You need zero wind and 4 people to get it up. I could fart through the walls.

Add a few more dollars to that and buy yourself a pop up clam or something.

Hi Stewart: My wife ordered me a hillary ice shelter a few years back, for Christmas. After a couple of attempts to set it up in the living room as a dry run it went back in the box and back to the store. Figured if it's that hard to put up in the house, how will it be on the frozen lake with the wind blowing. Newer models may be different, this was about 6 years ago. I have a frabill 2 man and am pretty happy with it. Easy to set up, and decent room for two, lots for one. Lots of people have Clams and seem to like them as well. Whatever brand you decide on, check out how easy it is to set up and take down and that it has enough room for you and your gear.

Not sure about Hilary

I actually heard bad things about the Clam that the material deteriorates

Frabill is supposed to use better material and my buddy recently bought a frabill expedition and put a slice in it in no time so maybe it isn't worth the extra money if it ends up ripping regardless....i do like it though

i'm still thinking a good old fashion wood hut is better then anything else but doesn't give u the portability.....but i don't have one so ill be fishing with my buddies that do as much as I can for now......if you wanna be cheap like me get a 2 man pop up tent and push snow up around it to block the wind

I have a clam 2000, had it for 5 or 6 years, it seems to be holding up pretty well, I am my own worst enemy tho, I left it in the back of my truck during that wet snow crap, and it froze up on me, rods wouldnt extend, but if you look after it, I am satisfied with it.
