im from pennsylvania where night crawlers catch alot of eyes never hear anyone mention using them under the ice are they not available in winter or just not as effective? it may sound stupid to ask this but i only get to canada once a year and am wandering if i should look for some worms while im buying minnows, thanks.

I don't know anyone that carries crawlers in the winter. I'm sure they would work, but must be hard to keep alive in the cold. In the late fall they are hard to rig and get to stay on as they become really weak and mushy.

Not near quinte but most baitshops near trout waters carry them in the winter. I swear by worms through the ice for brookies and splake.
