One Friday evening I was in two minds either stay home, eat and sleep out feeling miserable at the end of the day or travel 3 hours to BOQ one way and spend some time on ice try some luck with the eyes. Weather forecast had some snow in GTA but Napanee was -4C sunny/cloudy. Eventually decided to call my great friend Khan and see if he and QP can take me for a day out. Both guys are spirited fishermen and welcomed the idea. Next call was another fisherman buddy to company, hate driving long hours. We started 9.00 AM from Toronto and idea was to fish late after sunset. Reaching at Khan's place in BOQ at 12, a real brunch was ready with parathas, fried eggs, chickpea palaoo, dahi raieta, mango pickle, nan & aaloo gobi bahji with tea. One has to try very hard not to over eat, such is the level of hospitality. This is one pre-condition of every time I visit the Khans!

We hit on hard water at 2.00 PM, about 4-5 inches of ice, weather was gorgeous, sunny with no wind. It would have been criminal for a fisherman to stay home on such a beautiful day. Quite a good number of groups were already out there.

Holes drilled and lines were in quickly. No action for about 45 minutes of jigging. QP got bit restless and moved fruther to deeper water, another half hour, no action. QP was jigging in a computerised pattern and worth watching from distance combined with body langauge. We could see something coming, bang there you go, the first one a 6 pounder!

Ahsan missed a monster, inches from the hole. QP got another 7 ponder withing next half hour

I started joking with Khan, what are we doing wrong that nothing is hitting us, suddenly Khan hooked a 19" eye.
The sun went down and bite started like wild fire, I got one 19" eye, after few tips from QP.

and withing minutes missed a real big one. It was hard ro reel in!
QP hooked another 6 pounder beauty. It was so pleasing for me to see QP turning into a real pro in walleye !

 We had 5 walleyes in just 4 hours, what a enjoyable and memorable day? Decided it was time pack and to hit Khan's dinning room for a cup of hot tea and snacks! Great hosts, love to entertain friends! Thanks Buddy!

i remember calling a buddy to go fishing once and he started with the excuses, we both have a saying " and what is u have planned that u would rather do, oh sit on the couch and watch tv?" yup he got a new pb that day.

glad u decided to go, with that hospitality a skunking would still be a good day. way better then my timmies and subway sandwich.

I'm happy for you Huntingbuddy! I know what those kind of days feel like. Sharing some great fishing with great people on a great day is a lasting memory, for sure! I hope there's many more coming our way!! :)

QP- I still have that (old school) jigging stick for you. My wife and I will be down fishing all next weekend. :D PM and let me know if there is time to hook up. We'll be fishing all over, and will probably head over your way for a try as well. If I don't catch up with you this weekend.... I'll be down again before season's end.

Cheers
Glenn
