I'm taking a couple of retired guys fishing tomorrow and am looking for conditions on the ice east of the bridge. Slushy? Ice thickness? They are hardy but not that hardy. Any news on this area in a pm would be appreciated. Thanks

Last I was there the ice was not good to say the least.....almost went thru as my next step would have been into a 1/2 inch of ice if I didn't own a spud.

Still though, lots of guys out there which makes you wonder?

Hey LMckeown,
we did manage to get a few. The ice was half gray and half black and varied in thickness. We checked it as we went, it was 4"-6" and the current was wicked. I imagine with this bit of warm weather its gonna start to thin out. Hot Sauce got 1, I got a couple and Cymbals... well Cymbals had a terrible smell following him offf the ice. I reminded him of this smell every few moments as we headed home. he didnt seem to like that much :P

Nice looking fish, Dan! Bigger than the ones I managed to get there on Monday. I didn't get back on line or post about my trip until last night Dan, or I would have been able to give you the ice status. It sure was a wicked current and I don't think the ice will stay safe much longer near the bridge. Anyone venturing out, should do so with caution!!! And keep monitoring the thickness as you fish. I've seen 3" of ice turn to open water in 6 hours there, on a cold day!

Good fishing!
Glenn

Coming across the bridge tonight, at Deseronto, there were a lot of people fishing of the ferry street area by the bridge, more than I have seen in a very long time. Nice night to fish with out a hut, as well, wish I was one of them, lol, Cheers, Eric
