hi all, coming down tonight from london, staying at a friend's place east of rossmore across from point anne ... friend is away so we have no local guidance ... plan is to be on the ice friday and saturday, head home sunday

looking for any and all advice and tips about location, best times, ice conditions, tackle, technique

we did this last year around this time and ice was a sheet of glass, with i'd brought my skates, but i hear it is something diff this year due to snow ... lots of slush and softer ice, can't use ATV or sled ... we're bringing snow shoes, and i guess hauling gear out on a toboggan

we're not avid anglers, just part-timers, and must say we've never had any luck on BOQ ice in 2 prev attempts, but always a good time ... so, if you can keep your replies to a more basic level, it would be much appreciated

hitting the road at about 6pm, and will check back for replies up til then ... thanks all, and best of luck out there

Cant help you with the fishing part but due to rain and warmer weather ice is pretty much bare. Was out this morning on Hay Bay and a few patches of snow here and there but otherwise glare ice.

As of right now yes. However that being said it will depend on the weather, its supposed to be rather warm and rainy for the next 2 days.
I would definately check the ice yourself before going out with an atv in any area. Hopefully things dont get too bad. I would however leave the snoeshoes at home, you definately wont need them.
Be safe and always check yourself before heading out no matter what you read.

You can get minnows at pro tackle 2 mins north on highway 37. Just click on the banner up top for detailed directions to store.

Jiggin raps in perch and chartreuse are popular, mr champs, macho minnows, buck shots...

Good luck! :)
