Any predictions or educated guesses on what this warmer weather and rain will do to the ice conditions for this weekend?
I'm anxiously awaiting to see what happens with the ice as I was planning to make the long trip up there this weekend with my pregnant wife and 11 year old son. Not sure if it will be worth making the trip up there but am really hoping things work out okay and we'll be able to get out there fishing (and not from a boat)!

Well by no means an expert, but I would assume the areas with no current will be fine, but areas that are known to have some current might be a little iffy and wouldn't risk it until there are some reports!

plus 5 today the top of the ice got pretty soft but not slush, best to hope for is cold nights it can stand a lil warmth this rain wont help alot but it sure wont kill all the ice today is the first time in a month where cletes were needed in alot of areas after the rain they will be a must have if you wanna stay on your feet.......... you do not want to be going around the mouths of the rivers, northport narrows, massasauga narrows untill a few good cold days return rememebr thouse places didnt have much black ice to begin with and soft white ice is never to be trusted your best bet is going to be places like big bay, belleville area potters until the cold weather returns . be safe guys

About 6-8" of ice at Haybay this morning, bring your ice creepers it's slippery out there.
