Was out on Thursday, there was about 12-14inches of ice. Not sure how much was lost over the weekend rain. I go in from the division end, its a long walk though. You can also go of the Sydenham road side, there is a boat launch off Loughborough lane. If you can get your hands on some Smelts they work well if not you can also catch them on minnows. Good luck.

Your far better off staying over on Loughborough. No fish in Dog.

Pike have been off and on, splake have been steady but smaller fish. I expect with the run off starting to enter the lake lately that the crappie bite should be getting hot. Good luck.

I know,,,lol the first time I fished in 105 fow and though I was going to run out of line. The electronics realy make a differance for that depth, you can see them come up for the lure or jig. If you go again let me know and I'll make sure to get out....lol (I'll use her car if I have too) .lol

Hey guy's,

I'm headed up north this weekend searching for big lakers. I've been fishing Papineau Lake for the last few season with a bunch of buddy's and we always land 5 to 10 lakers each trip and head into the ponds for our limit of speckies.

What are some of your favorite rig setups when hunting the big lads?

good to see you out there again walleye wonder seems like we have similar taste in fishing areas thats the second random time weve run into each other.....dont feel too bad we got skunked that day too.....we didn't mark any where you guys were fishing but as soon as we moved out to the middle i got about 5 good bites saw lots of fish on the screen watched them come up and hit it but couldn't lock any down.....ill prolly be out again this weekend same area same hut......weve fished beside that older guy that was fishing beside you about 1/2 a dozen times and he always seems to nail them but he didn't end up with any that day either so i'm gonna blame the weather ;)

Gone Fishin - The jiggin rap is my go to lure try a variety of sizes (un-baited - it seems to affect the action of the lure)....they only seemed to hit it when it was sitting still on the weekend but usually they like the action

White gulp minnow grub tipped with a minnow head. There are plenty of lakers to be had on Loborough but they run mostly 1-3 lbs with a few larger fish from time to time. White tubes (small ones) minnow trailer. I was out yesturday and landed 9 small fish. The smelt seem to be making a comeback which is nice to see. Most fish coming in the 50 - 80 feet of water. A lot of the marks I have been marking are in fact big smelt.

Anyone been out lately? Was wondering what condition the ice is, especially from the Division st side. I'm looking out at Wolfe island right now and can see it opened up half way down Simcoe island. Won't be long for open water lakers!
