The weekend of the 25th and 26th of June found myself and my Dad out looking for fish, with an upcoming visit of grandsons, we had to find fish. We found about 16 albeit small fish in Thompsons Cove, so we had a place to go. On the 26th, we trolled in Long Reach looking for more and larger fish, but we struck out.
The grandsons arrived and we hit the water on the 29th and we had the boys land a half dozen walleye and the six year old landed a couple of sheepshead that he had to put all his weight behind not to be pulled in......
The hot weather and the lack of fish saw a diminished enthusiasm by the boys for the trolling, so the efforts were concentrated on the dock fishing. Lots of Perch, sunfish, Rock Bass, and bluegills to keep them busy and of course watching for water snakes.
On Sunday, the 3rd, my son and I got out for a couple hours and found a pocket of fish deep in the weeds and we landed 7 walleyes, sufficient numbers for a take home fish fry.
The reports from the other fishers were up and down, some did well with smaller fish and some others found some in the larger size(18-21").
The trolling in Long Reach is hard to take with lots of fish showing on the graph but they are in the 20-25' depths.
Will be changing the transducer, (second in two years) on friday and hopefully I'll be able to fully scope the fish.
Stay Tuned
