Been a while since i've been on lake ontario. Between learning how to play golf (hate the sport, have to learn it for work) and bass fishing, I haven't had an opportunity to get out for salmon.
This past saturday I made an 18 mile run out to the old weather bouy. Our plan, my buddy Andre and I, was to run light tackle, spinning tackle, for bows and ho's.
I wanted to run 3 colour core as well as a number 0 dipsy to go along with my two riggers, but couldn't do that on spinning tackle...so I went with my 7'5" loomis nrx bass rods.
numbers we what would be expected. close to 20 fish boated, with at least as many lost...those insane fish are in the air more than in the water....we lost 3 atlantics that went absolutely airborne - straight up like a rocket! Greasy Chicken and Watermellon were hot colours...stingers and dreamweavers.
For the first time in five years I think, we actually took a limit of fish home...we had some neighbours that had requested fresh fish...all went to good use.
fish were caught on all four setups, with the stud rod being the number 0 dipsy on a 3 setting, small spinny and peanut fly.
we didn't take many photo's of the fish, as they're mostly cookie cutter coho's...but on light tackle, they were amazingly fun!
some of the most fun i've ever had on Lake O!
