I am actually in the west end of Ottawa, ...Stittsville & would like to see what it can do before I shell out $300. I have a Lowrance LMS 522 which comes with a rudamentary background map with little detail.

I am presuming the Navionice (901 P) Platinum is the best available chip?

I appreciate your input
thanks !

Look at the Navionics Hot Maps chip, I found that for the inland lakes, Lake Ontario and St Lawrence River, it more than does the job and for less money. I called Navionics and talked to them on the phone, they actually sent emailed me on the spot, screen shots of areas i was familiar with for comparison.

I have the "Premium" hotmaps lakes canada edition and it is top notch. I believe the only difference with the Platinum is the sat view. Premium is less than $200.00

Also check to make sure that the Platinum card is compatibably with your unit. If I recall the 522 is an older unit and the newest card may not work with it.

Hi Moonracer. Here is a link to the navionics compatibilibty chart, http://www.navionics.com/LakeCompatible ... uideType=1

Shows your unit is compatible with hotmaps & hotmaps premium, but not the hotmaps platinum. I'm picking up a hotmaps chip (only one compatible with my unit) ordered through west marine today, $118 taxes in.

Try Paddletales, I am positive Ed sells Navionics. If he doesn't LeBarons or Sail might have it too...
