Thanks for looking

Hey, get off my honey hole, lol,

i think those are weeds, or a school of huge eels, as they are at least 5 feet long when compared to depth.
have seen that before, my guess is your in the reach, where accoring to g2 the fish use the spots next to the drop off's as highways, explaining why you find them stacked up so hard in spots. they dont swim threw the deep water.

or you put the fish finder in demo mode that they use in the store.. lol.. thats what i call it when the screen is full, lines are out, and i cant catch nothing...

I belive there are a couple of things going on
1- incorrect transducer angle "the marks are getting cut off before they finish the traditional hooks"
2- knowing how a tranducer cone angle is key marks can look HUGE if the fish stays in the cone angle for extended periods of time and they appere to rase in the water colum then fade off what is happening is the fish is getting closer to the boat in the cone angle when it is directly below the boat it read the shallowest then fades deeper harking as a hook
3- some of what you are marking is a reverb echoe you have marked something in the water column that has caused a reverb in sonar signal just like if you put your depth scale way up you will mark a second botom if the botom is hard
By know means am I an expert by try looking on youtube to find propper sonar setup and different uses for your unit. Sonars are only as good as the user I am very picky when it comes to using sonars in open water and spend lots of time on set up and learning my unit to its fullest

Good luck
Dan

Is this a new install?

Is it like that all the time?

Just found the new radioworld forum. Post a picture in there and see if one of their staff responds.

Thanks to everyone who wrote and advised on my graph situation.

I haven't posted to the Radio World forum.

After consideration,I believe that I will have to reset my transducer, I think I have it too flat and needs an adjustment. Will effect those changes when I get back to Hay Bay, sometime after the 18th of the month.

Check your ping speed first, if it is set too fast you won't get great returns either, try slowing it down and see if you start getting arches instead. It looks like it might be bait but it is probably just clutter.

Dave, transducer is angled to far ahead. When the boat is out of the water try changing the angle towards the stern.

Yes those are fish in the water under the boat. Sensitivity may also be a bit too high.

What is the proper angle for the transducer??? I just installed a new unit on my boat this year, and seems to be working fine, but I'm always in shallow, weedy water, and can't tell if it's working proper or not. Would like to have it set up proper for the deep water in the fall.

Thanks!!

The transducer should be at 90deg to the bottom.

You want it mounted away from turbulent water and below the waterline when on plane.

You do not want it inline with a strake on the bottom.

Typically you want it on the starboard side as your prop probably turns clockwise and the water on the starboard side is cleaner.

It is nice to to mount a transducer mounting board like this one http://www.fish307.com/bertscustomtackl ... 3263w.aspx This way you can play with the location a little without drilling new holes in your transom.

Thanks Scott. I actually mounted the transducer in the same spot as the original one that came with the boat, so I'm assuming it was in the proper spot. Sounds like it is. Does the boat stay level when in the water?? (at trolling speed) Maybe back heavy?? Would maybe have to adjust the angle of the transducer to keep a 90 degree angle. Just curious.

Looks like weeds and pollen broken off of weed beds and suspended as they drift after a big blow. Is it like that all the time? or just in the fall
