looking to purchase a few planer board rods the g loomis wtr941 has been recomended to me for its soft tip and heavy backbone .where can these be purchased also i am assumeing these are pretty pricey rods so any recomendations as to cheaper options similar quality would be appreciated

I do not believe the Loomis 941's are being made anymore - they were an 8' one piece rod and while expensive, were one of the best walleye planer rods made. I personally went with Fenwick planer board rods as they were a telescoping model and would fit in my 7 ' rod locker and were easier to store at home, and have been totally satisfied with them. Also have a couple of Shimano Compre trolling rods that also work well, but are not as sensitive as my Fenwick models. Both of these sell for around $100.

I have six shimano tdr 8 fts for sale.med light. I used them a season up thete and they work well

Loomis still makes a ton of nice planer rods. Check out the str series !
