Got out tonight for a few hours in the Picton area. Managed to catch 3, 2 keepers and 1 small. Lost another 3 only to find out my hooks point was flat !

Tried trolling for a while without luck, started casting and caught all the fish. 12-18' seemed to be the magic number around the drop offs, slow presentation and sticking to the bottom. All fish West of the Ferry.

Marked alot of fish near the cement plant, but nothing biting.

I caught them from 3pm - around 6:30, nothing around dark !? I catch more walleyes in the BOQ in the middle of the day then morning or evening for some reason. I was surprised to see summer techniques working this late in the year.

I found 3 inch minnows in the bellies of them both. Looks like shiners, i think.

Awesome! Is there any good spots from shore near Trenton to get them. I only shore fish for now, no boat.
Thanks for the pics.

Its tough without a boat until it gets colder. I would fish at night in the trent. when i was younger, (and didn't have a boat), i caught lots of fish at night at the boat launch on the west bank in the mouth off the concrete pier, and in the marina on the East side + the outlet to the river from that marina. I fished right to ice up, the colder it gets the bigger the walleye get. I think they come in there at night to feed, even right into the marina in shallow water.

Great looking 'eyes man, nice job!

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but when you say "at night" do you mean late night (8pm - midnight) or Early morning (midnight - 6am)? Only reason why I ask (and I do understand that other lakes are different) is because I've tried shore fishing at night on Balsam off a pier and didn't catch anything but bullheads and we fished from about 1:30am until late morning. This was a few weeks ago on Labor Day Monday.

Cheers,

I would imagine you can get them all night, but i usually start night fishing at 1 hr before dark and fish until they stop biting. Usually i am done around midnight, unless the fishing is good.

rapala's at dark, you shouldn't get bullheads on those. If you do, take the worms off of it :)
