Since I haven't had fishing reports as of late; fishing mostly a back lake and in a tinny with an electric motor and not the BOQ in my main rig, I thought I'd share my other passion / addiction and stand up to shout...

My name is Paul, and I love to cook...and yes, it shows but thankfully the wife says she likes me a step away from a heart attack!

I had bought 6 lbs of bacon last weekend. Got up this morning and before work, decided this was the day; bacon wrapped eggs were calling me!

I didn’t do the full-blown version...was too limited in time and didn’t have all the stuff so this is what I did.

1) Pre-cooked the bacon til brown.
2) Using disposable muffin tins, wrapped bacon in a circle and cut a piece for the bottom of the cups.
3) Cracked an egg in each one.
4) Added salt, pepper, Hye’s steak spice.
5) Covered with grated med. Cheese.
6) Baked at 400 for 20 minutes.

I’d change some things...

Cooking for 20 minutes was a bit too long if you wanted it at all runny; would change to 15.

The bacon I used was Maple Leaf. Good bacon but inconsistent width so didn’t round the edges very well.

I think next time I’d add in some cut up tomoato, green onions etc. It would be good to fill with scrambled egg mix too.

Gonna give it a whirl this weekend back at the lake and see what others think too...but have to add that all in all, it was amazing!!!

MMmmmmm......Bacon Porn!

Cheers,

Paul

I think we'll do alittle epic meal time on the first ever 24hour Quinte charter!! Not gonna lie stole your bacon wrapped eggs idea! I do eggs in mini pie plates in the bbq on the boat, but wrapping them in bacon!?!? Genius! Might have to add alittle pilsbury biscuit dough ontop too! Mmmm mmm good! Love it

One of the ways I've seen this done is to use the bacon strips in a cross like way and leave the extra length so you can wrap them over the top so the bacon almost completely surrounds the egg.

...if anyone hasn't tried the Bacon Fatty, you're missing out!

Ground meat made like a meat-loaf (add whatever you want) surrounded by a bacon weave then covered in bbq sauce and put in the smoker all day...

Scott - the biscuits sound perfect!

Legacy, you seem like a man after my own heart. You might have to get a free spot on the inaugural 24 hour charter!! Well sorry your spot would cost you a few bacon wrapped eggs and maybe a Bacon Fatty on the cue. I have to find a way to mount a small charcoal smoker to the boat. MMMMMM MMMMM good!!!

Scott

By the end of 24 hours an ambulance or at least defib machine might be needed though.

Hey Dan...I've used the smoker for that too but have had a heck of a time keeping the temp up and consistent. I've read the charcoal makes a huge difference so if you have a suggestion, I'd be interested.

These are moinks (bacon wrapped meatloaf balls) and ribs that I put in the smoker a while ago...I'm still waiting for them to be done.
