Hey guys, we need a little help with Scotch Bonnet Island. We are itching to get out and since its still quiet at quinte we figured we would give the bonnet a try. Weather looks good for saturday so that's gonna be our day. I have never been out there but its looks pretty easy, a few miles offshore after launching from wellington. I have gps and a big 21 foot boat, dowriggers (if needed), here are my questions, how deep should I be searching for fish, I'm assuming same lures that work on quinte will work there. How about salmon or trout, can I drag a few spoons at the same speeds I'm trolling, if so what depth should I run them. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated, if anyone else is going let me know

North is at the top of the page.

My preferred troll is from east to west on the north side of the Bonnet in 40 to 30 fow.
Last time out we did better on the southwest corner in the 25 to 20 foot range.

Baits - Last time Rapala TD-11s and troll to 20's
- All time favorite at the Bonnet is Husky Jerk divers in perch pattern.
** You have to get the lures within 5 feet of bottom or closer. This is not like fishing for suspended eyes in Quinte or the Reach.

Some days McFaul Shoal and the east end of Palen Bank are excellent locations if the Bonnet is not producing.

If you want to fish browns go about 1/4 mile west of the Bonnet in 80 to 90 fow water. You should do OK.

We'll be there Thursday & Sunday. Have to do a club tourney in Quinte on saturday.
VHF Channel 16 or 71.

Hope this will help.
Al
