I'm going to buy a set of inline planers. I may end up with 2 sets some day but for now its going to be one. I was thinking of the Church TX-44 for Salmon but can I use them for walleye or am i going to drag the poor fish around without being able to tell the fish is on? I had thought of making a set of big boards but I have no room for a mast / reel setup.

I'm no expert and I have only fished with the TX-44 once this summer for salmon, but it is a big board.

I use Off Shore Tackle OR12 and Church Walleye Boards for fishing walleye with great success.

In-lines are the way to go.

I saw the price last week at Cdn Tire at $54.00 per Off-shore Board.

I would take a trip to Gander Mountain in Watertown at approx $30.00 each - save a ton of $.

I would give Gander a call before going to confirm the price and availability.

Just my .02

Ok so I need 2 sets then. Maybe I'll get them both at the same time and save shipping. I saw the OR 12's at canadian tire. I can get them alot cheaper online. Thanks for the replies!

dont forget to get the upgraded clips for the boards. OR-18 adjustable tension clips are the way to go, especially if you use braid, it allows you to clamp tighter to avoid the board slipping back or falling off on windy days.

I agree with Superdad, I got 2 more boards at gander in July as they were on sale for $25. I thought they retailed them for $39.99 normally but I could be wrong. I remember thinking it basically saved me the price of the clips...

by far the best thing about the church tx-44 is that it can be changed or flipped to work on either side of the boat this is just not possible with the off shore boards........... and when you get them in the states they come with the flag and everything at a normal price of 29.95 wich is still pretty sad since its just a piece of plastic but is what it is .....supply and demand I guess lol...........

Well I broke down and bought the off shores. Im going to try them with the stock clips and see how it goes. I picked them up at canadian tire. I figure by the time I drive or have them shipped how much am I going to save elsewhere.

If you find that the line is slipping with the stock clips you could alway wrap the line once around the front clip. Its not ideal but it does work.

Agreed with what Fish Hunter says, you will understand the first time you see one of your boards floating away behind the boat

Definitely a double wrap on the clip, especially with braid. I just bought new clips for my boards, because the nut fell off and lost all the pieces. Don't know if I would glue them on, because I think you're supposed to change holes according to trolling speed, with the offshore boards. I bought OR 16 (red clips) and they have a hole in the top pad, and a pin in the bottom pad, so they kinda lock together making it impossible for the line to break loose. Haven't tried them yet, but looks like it'll work.

Google Off Shore planer boards, and you should find everything you need to know.
