New to Kingston,
You do not need to go to Napanee to catch Walleyes. Try going out
in the evening between 7 and 11 from the government dock @ Collins
Bay which is on the West end of Kingston. Head out from the dock &
fish out towards the mouth of the bay along Lemoines point. Some use
the Napanee special which is a Black Flurry Mepps Spinner with a worm.
I tend to drift and cast large stick baits. There is a derby being held on
May 22 that I sometimes join in (A work derby, 30 guys) and fish are
always caught at this time of the year. I believe they even pick a full
moon night to make it easier to fish. The ramp is free and the parking
is pretty good. Don't park at the bottom of the parking area near the
ramp to allow other people to turn their trailers around. The fishing for
Walleyes is the "Best" around mid August. That when the big ones are
on most of the shallow shoals. If you have any questions drop me a line.
How big is your boat? Collins Bay can get rough. If you have a small
boat I can suggest some sheltered spots at the mouth of the Rideau in
downtown Kingston.
