I am looking at getting a new floatation suit this winter. Does anyone know anything about the Helly Hansen suit? What's the difference between the Alpha One and Delta II. Their site really doesn't give a lot of info. Any info / suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the Alpha has a higher "survival" rating or something, but the big selling feature for me is the suspenders on the Alpha, they really take the weight off your lower body. I'm not positive, but I don't think the Delta II has suspenders. I own an Alpha suit and I love it. You can't go wrong with either though, they last forever. One negative about the Alpha is the hood, it's not the greatest, but the Alpha does have a really nice fleece collar. Alpha is obviously more expensive. Hope this helps.

Not to hijack.. I have a HH Jacket, great jacket no problems and verywarm...however I find it bulky and stiff for ice fishing. I am looking at the Arctic Amour suit.. not true floation but more comfortable to wear??? anybody have any comments

Cabelas has the HH Delta II on for $229 which is a great price. I'm just concerned that it won't be warm enough. The only big difference I see from the HH site is that the Alpha has the suspenders and the Delta II does not. Any other opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a HH Alpha One for years now. Its awesome. Suspenders are awesome when its warm as you can take the top half off and let it hang. I can't understand why anyone would buy a mustang suit for 100"s more

I also like Salus. It is simply a better built product, than all that I have seen in the Canadian market, that are approved.

For the money HH, makes a decent product. I am not sure about the models.

As far as why anyone would pay more, it all comes down to comparing apples to apples. Materials (zippers, body material, floatation, etc.), workmanship, stitching, design and a host of other factors (including frieght....Canada is a big country) all come into play.

I have owned Salus, Mustand and Helly Hansen (formerly Buoy oh Boy) and never had any concern to note with any. I do hope that you consider getting a fully approved one with full flotation, for the water and the cold.

Thanks for all the replies!!! I may try the HH Delta II from Cabelas because you can't beat the price and it seems to have all the features I'd be looking for. I'll let you know how I make out!!

I use Arctic armor and love it. I used a mustang 1 piece before and was to bulky to move. Most time I will also have an inflatable belt on. Everyone should try to get out of the water in a 1 piece it's harder then you think

I own an Alpha One. Love it!!! No complaints. A buddy is going to buy the Delta II, but not till later this month. It also looked good, but can't really comment on it.
