I went out last week and went to press the button on the electric start and nothing happened. Check connections, switched batteries, still nothing. Was just about to give up and troll with the bow mount, pressed it one more time and it worked. The rest of the day it was perfect. Tried to start it last night and again nothing. Charged the battery and still nothing. Anyone heard of this before? Anything I should try before taking it in?

When I press the button there is actually nothing happening. It's not even trying to turn the motor over.

I have seen this on a 25 merc. I have found moving the shifter in and out of gear.. as if a safety is not working properly. perhaps the motor will not fire because of a safety of some kind if the motor if it is newer.
Same thing happens with the merc. you can be fishing and motor works great all day then bring it into the dock and the darn thing will not do anything when you turn the key. Mess around with the shifter and say some kinds words and the darn thing will fire up.

I had something similar to this happen on my merc. There wasn't even any trim when it died on the water. Turns out, inside the motor compartment there is a row/block of fuses, 1 was blown :? replaced for .30c and back on the water.

thanks guys. it seems to be something with the kill switch and toggling it between neutral and forward. it either does nothing or fires right up after one push. not sure if that is the problem or just lucked out. as long as I don't get stuck out in the water.
