Holy mac , this has been the worst fall of fishing ever. No one I talk to has caught much. I have not caught much. The guides can show their 1 or 2 fish , but for two full days of fishing....not so good , considering November is usually a great month.
I don't fish with the hoards of folks hovered around Shermans or the other hot spots .... too much activity for me. But I do have my fall spot , and they finally showed up last week....on the finder. Problem is , I can't catch them !
Trolling through this spot normally rocks this time of year. They aren't scattered , they are in one relatively small area.
I tried for many hours this weekend , with many colours and depths ...nothing.
I didn't have minnnows , but I did jig a classic silver blue spoon through the school , with half a fake leetch , and nothing.

Just wondering if anyone has an alternative bait or technique that might coax these inactive walleye into a bite? I am tempted to go back to the basics and just put a good sized minnow on a bare hook.... but I'm almost too proud to do so.

PS , we really need to do something about the tremendous commercial harvest from the b.o.q. Between the Indians spearing and netting everything / everywhere , and the other commercial licences , the fish stocks are simply being pressured to the brink .

Hold tight, they are on the way and fish will turn on.

Alternative techniques ......... patience ............ mix up trolling spread ....... deepdiving cranks, shallower running stick baits off of leadcore, spoons and worm harnesses off of core/dipsey divers/slide divers/topedo divers ......

I don't think they're is a lack of fish, the graph has been lit up solid for weeks. The issue is they have lock jaw! I believe like landshark that it will happen soon. They're waiting till next week when I'm on vacation and fishing the bay 7 days straight to turn on...

Need some cold air!!!

Yep I agree not cold enough yet . Last month was 2.2 degrees above the average for the month. So add two to three weeks to your calculated prime time . Hasn't been this warm since 2007, if you remember what you did in 07 for November it will probaly work now. Good luck !!!

Forget about planning your strategy based on what worked in Nov last year and concentrate on what the water temps were. A logbook is a great idea.
