In the spring I donated a trip on Quinte this fall to the Port Credit Trout & Salmon Assoc. to raise money for the club and to be used in their silent auction at the Lake Ontario Symposium.
OMNR biologist Marc Desjardins won the auction. Yesterday we hit Quinte with the forecast of 35 kilometer winds. We set up in the inner Bay to see how the winds were going to develop. We hit the first eye at Thompson's with Marc on the rod.

It was a nice 10.1 lb. eye.

And was released to fight another day.

We made a couple more passes at Thompson's and with the waves pushing 2 1/2 feet and boat control was not great we made the move to Keith's Shoal. At Keith's we went to a 7 rod spread with 2 monos, 2 5 core inside of that and a 7 & 8 core next to the boat, with a 2 core down the chute. No riggers or divers because we were not keeping fish.

Mark was accompanied by his father-in-law Charlie.

Grand Slam's first mate Dave Thompson slid the net under this 5 pound eye.

Charlie with a nice smaller eye.

We found no pattern of colour or lure choice but the 5 cores worked the best. We ended the day 2 for 5. Not great but no skunk.

We should have went east of the ferry first but the wind was forecast to swing north west but never happened. During the day it swung more southerly. Should always go with your first instinct.

Later
Al

Well done Al. We are making our final trip this coming Tuesday - hopefully won't be as windy.

Good report Al glad to see you guys got some. You would have had some tarter sauce to go with them if it wasn't for the stupid seagulls. lol
I left 2 pack's on the hood of your truck but the gulls were pretty hungry. How did your first mate Gilligan behave... lol

nice report and pics Al we fished until 1 and called it quits cause my buddies had to leave. We lost a dandy at the beginning of the day after that it was quiet. Only fish we saw pulled out was yours.
