Sorry for the wrong date on the picture

Was out for a visit to the launch ramp at the Glenora Ferry this morning to confirm my thoughts and suspections.

The cold weather the last several days have proven what I thought would happen. The Bay is frozen to an extent that launching and fishing will be neigh impossible.

Although, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. If the weather chills out again, the soft-water fishing season will be done.

Get the augers and ice stuff out, we may be on the ice by mid January (I'm giving it a lot of time before I venture on the Bay)

Hey Superdad!
Turn the outboard upside down and put a big prop on . Up north on simcoe they call em SCOOTS!.
Actually they are like the swamp things you see in the movies. A boat with this huge airplane propeller on waht looka like a car engine mounted on a frame at the back. It pushes the boat over snow ice or even water.
Be the first kid on the Quinte block with one . 8) KOOL

This ramp looks great. How is the parking?
During soft water times.

Can this location be used by ice fisherman
or is it a dangerous location due to the ferry
traffic?

Hope to see you on Quinte next month. My
wife got me a Fish Trap Pro for Christmas.
Can't wait to try it on one of those -25 deg C days
when I would normally stay home.

nice pic Ron,but the ones I saw were like 16 foot runabout boats with the same drive system out back.Looked like they could handle 3 or more passengers,
some of you guys around Georgina Island must have a pic . It was parked right where the ice road met the island by the ferry (last year).

Super

Is there any open water out from the launch (near the ferry) and how thick do you think the ramp ice was?

Pete,

From a previous post, according to the ferry peopel, there must be some open water, Tonights low temp might have an impact of the ice.

Seeing the Ice Boat, I was talking to a friend on Tuesday and he has no problem with the ice. He's modified his 14 footer with some skids on the bottom to glide across the ice. HE has a spud to push or pull the boat across whatever ice there is.

He can travel across 2 inches and punch a hole and fish away.

So he tells me. He got a 13.5 lber last Sunday in Hay Bay on the soft water. Haven't talked to him to see if he's had the his 'Ice' boat out or not.
