Portable ice huts: Does anyone know of a portable flip up ice hut that has an aluminum frame? I don't have an ATV. and find Frabill and Clam pull very hard in snow. Thanks.

IMO don't think you would want one of Alm. All I can think of is stuck with snow when warmer temps. I have dreaded all my alm shovels and sleighs in warmer temps. Hate to say it but in my experience plastic pulls the best in all conditions.

Build a sleigh out of downhill skies and it will pull like nothing.Take a look at iceshanty.com then general ice fishing chit chat scroll down untill you find "my homemade $15 sled"

Put Teflon runners on the Frabill. Makes all the difference, easier to pull and an added bonus the sled will last longer. Pro Tackle had some last year. Stacey could order some if he doesn't have any in stock.

I don't know what to recommend here. I have had a ton of huts over the years and I find the Frabill and Clam pull very easy. They focus allot on the weight of there huts and the tubs are designed to pull easy in snow and slush. I have a Clam Thermal 2-3 man and I pull it by hand without to much trouble and I have major Heart and Back problem's, not to mention i am old as dirt LoL. The runner kits do work good but are more to protect the bottom of the tub when towing behind your bike or sled, I have them on mine and i didn't really notice any difference pulling in deep snow. Check there sites and get the stats on there different models to see witch one suits you the best or go over and see Stacey at Pro Tackle he has lots in stock and can help you make a good choice. Good Luck .....Fred

If you have trouble pulling a hut out try a harness ( bought or homemade from an old backpack ) and a long lead line. Make your tow line over ten ft and you will notice a very big difference. I pull a pop up and all gear in a med otter sleigh and a guy gave me that advice in simcoe and it makes a huge difference.

Also wax the bottom just like skiers use, it will help a bit too.
