Well looks like Frozenflyguy and I heading back up to Quinte the second weekend of February (not sure If we will be taking the boat or ice fishing gear yet). Just wanted to find out what peoples lure of choice is on the bay. over the past few years I have to say my lure of choice has been the jigging rap Chart/white tipped with a minnow tail on the back hook for additional action with subtle movements. I have actually found that when the fish show up on the screen and don't take I downsize to the jigging rap I would use for perch which seems to trigger the bit on lethargic fish. Personal best 12lber came through the ice this way. Of course I'm sure I will hear about the Buckshot but I'm still not totally sold. Everyone has a go to lure so whats yours?

In no particular order. swidish pimple, champ, lucky strike rocket both sizes, sidewinder, reel bait prototype, little cleo, and the 2 you mentioned.

I have had good luck with Macho Minnows, mainly the glow in the dark ones.

I would love to see a 10lb eye smash a hula popper at the hole! Grizzly get your camcorder going and tape the action as it happens.

anyone try out the lipless cranck baits like the live target or Lindy darter. They slaughter the fish on Lake Winnipeg with them and swear it calls fish in. Frozenflyguy managed one eye on the live target the other year but no big numbers.

I love the clackin rap firetiger with the rear treble removed and a minnow head On the wide gap hook on the bottom treble then the macho minnow will be a close second.

Do most of you tip lures with a whole minnow, more than one minnow or just a head?

I keep hearing that tipping your baits with three whole minnows is the way to go. We have had success with tipping them with a combo of minnows and gulp, just gulp, minnow heads, tails, and my personal favorite salted minnows. Depends on the lure your using. with jigging raps I tip the back hook with a minnow tail, others spoons, like buck shots its whole minnows
