Is anyone going onto Hay Bay this weekend. This cold
weather must have made some areas safe to fish.

What about the Church Ramp or Shermans Point boat launch locations?

If not, what about inland lakes north of Kingston.

Iching to get out,

Most of the shalower lakes north of Kingston have had ice since late December, the others should be safe in most areas by this weekend. Last week most backlakes had 6" or more of good ice.

On the 3rd we got out a little ways but the 5" of ice tickled a few nerves.

On 11th we were out for Aft. and walked across from church, ice was good 10". Should've had picks on boots, several falls between 3 of us, snow on black smooth ice was like grease. Caught a couple at bottom of slot.

Your right about the splippery ice,

Last weekend I slipped (with picks on) and cracked a rib.
Sharp pains whenever I bend or twist. Won't stop me from
fishing though. I stopped by Howe Brothers in Kingston I
bought grippers that cover almost the full foot. The ones
I slipped on were the small Canadian tire specials. They iced
up and they ended up being worse than no grippers at all.

Someone suggested spraying Pam on them to keep them from
icing up. I guess that would be good as long as you don't put
the Pam on the bottom of your boots.

Good luck and be safe,

Is there a city or town which has good access to the bay? Good parking and a short walk would be ideal.
TIA.
Kevin

Follow your road map to Desoronto. Once there look for the boat launch where you can park in the lot and within a short walk you're fishing.
