after work a buddy his son and i hit peats point. soon after arriving buddy looses one at the hole. I asked what he was using and he says a jig. yep plain old chartruse jig tipped with a minnow. A while later he hit another and got it this time. About 2 lbs. he missed another. I dont have a flasher so i wondered over to a fella that did and while i was there a fish came in but wouldnt take. he told me he has marked a few. the last time i was out Aadil put a hurting on me with his silv/red champ . i of course had to go get one. Champ in hand tipped with 3 minnows dropped down the hole and had a good wack but missed it. quickly reeled up and he cleaned me out. Tipped it and dropped it back down and again whack but got it. 6lbs. one other fish same thing and that was it. Ice where i was was about 8 inches. Guys driving atv's on ice. Talked with a couple guys who had fished straight out , north from cow Is and they told me 3 maybe 4 inches there and no fish. be careful out there

Good work Dan! I was transfered to Manitoba for 6 years from 96/02. I hated the idea of leaving Ontario, but I also knew I'd be in Walleye Heaven and it was. I spoke to lot's of locals about where to go and what works for them when I got there, almost all told me just use a yellow jig head and a minnow (salted) that was what most of the stores sold.

I usually off set the hook, and use the largest minnows. I use lots of different lures but when all else fails I pull out the jig head and minnow put the rod in the holder and watch the flasher, if something shows up then I start finessing it and the fish will strike. "NOT ALWAYS"
