Hi folks. Is there anyone who has purchased and/or used the Marcum Showdown Troller Sonar fish finder? I am interested in this unit and would appreciate if you could share your comments on this piece of equipment. Thanks.

Have a look on the RadioWorld Forum. There is a couple of post on there about the Showdown Troller buy guys that have them. Also RadioWorld could answer any questions you may have..... Fred

I have the actual showdown unit and I really like it. I works great and I am sure the troller will work just as good, It would be great for moving around on the ice. I have used my unit while moving to different places and checked spots out just by laying the transducer on the ice with a cup of water under the transducer.

They are great but the reg showdowns are the way to go.

Well I bit the proverbial bullet and ordered the showdown troller and got the accessories to go with it. I asked for the showdown carry bag and the 12 volt battery as well. The first chance I will get to use it will be at the Battle of the Bay.

Cantcatchacold what makes the regular ones better? From what I could determine, the difference may be the zoom. In less than 20 feet of water... like we fish in Big Bay, I can't see where it would be better to have the zoom, but I am the newby when it comes to electronics.

Thanks to all who replied, I hope to see you out on the ice soon.

Cheers.

I have recently bought the showdown troller and I am very happy with the performance of it O
n the other hand though I bought two in the same day. One for my dad one for me. Mine has a plastic defect on the two top screw holes from either the machine that torques them or the person who tightens the screws but both of the screw bases are cracked I called Marcum and they sent me out a new one and when I opened the box you guessed they were broken in the exact same spots my dads is fine but they definantly have a problem if the QA person is not finding this so check it closely in the store before you take it home.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll certainly be on the lookout for that defect. For those who are interested, this model of showdown can shoot through the hull of a canoe which sold me over the 5.6 version. Even with the "performance pack" and battery, it still came in cheaper than the dual beam version. I guess I'll know better once I get a chance to play with it few times.

Cheers.
