I have a ground blind I am thinking about using for a ice hut but what do you peole use to hold it down onto the ice ?
I was thinking about a battery drill and 4 lag bolts into the ice .

You can buy ice anchors like they use on portable shelters.

These are the best things going and you can get them online or at Gander Mountain in Watertown, http://http://icefishinggear.wordpress.com/2009/12/06/ice-angel-anchor-new-ice-fishing-gear-for-your-ice-house/

Another less expensive option is Canadian Tire. Well, at least in Kingston, they usually have a good stock of red T-handle ice anchors.

Ya, that's what I was talking about. The screw in type. I see them at the tackle shops pretty cheap. Rapala also makes them. Nice big oversized handle.

Don't buy the cheap HT ones, they are absolutely useless, get a good set of eskimo or clam and you won't regret in!

I use the ice screws, Bring my portable drill with me, drill a hole then put the screw in , easier on the arms and the ice doesn't chip and shatter, otherwise it can be a pain trying to screw them in if there is no pilot hole.

I use large deck eye bolts from the hardware store for my basecamp and my clam headquarters. Works great I put them in and they are 75 cents. I was using the ice anchors but in wind they always bent. I was out on rice lake crappie fishing tonight and didn't get blown away

I made mine using 6" lag bolt with a kerf cut up the length of the thread to help displace the ice out of the hole, a "tee" handle welded on top, and or a large lock washer welded on as a tie spot ... when its quiet at work .
